Has anyone seen evidence of a re-scaling?

I know things are in motion for the next several days but I just got a PR6 on several sites I knew to be PR7 where their inbound links have gone up this month. Actually the inbounds that are shown but the real number of inbounds has gone up as seen on other SEs.

A rescaling is no cause for alarm but I know a lot of people on this forum will be shouting about what happened to my PR7 or PR6 site. I've personally dropped a notch but am getting loads more referrals so I'm not unhappy.

Join the club! I've dropped a notch and I've noticed it on some other sites I watch too.

Data point: my site just moved from 7 to 8. I'm acquiring new inbound links steadily, but that's a big jump and I don't see how I could have done it in the face of a downward adjustment of the scale.

A possible reason for this is the sites with high PR that are linking to you may have added a lot more links to other sites on the same page they are linking to you on. This would water down the PR you are getting from that site which could bring your own site's PR down.

PR for one of my sites hasn't changed either of the last two updates, dispite a major increase in both links and content. However, I doubt this means anything.

Toolbar PR is clearly counted on a log scale (I think someone guessed base 7, although I don't see how you could guess that, given the complexity of the system). Since all we have to go on is an integer, it doesn't really give you much information. For instance, for all I know, I started at low 5 and am now high 5, with 5 times as much real PR.

I think you were right on the border, and something went wrong with some of your link partners (added more links, lost PR, got banned, etc.).

Toolbar is clearly very approximate. Don't worry about it too much. How are your SERPs, that's the question!

I've noticed that on several sites that PageRank has moved up and down today. Sometimes some of the sites have PR4 and other times they're PR5. So, I'm convinced that they're still in a shuffling mode.

Yeah, still shuffling but my client's site went from 6 to 7! Been a high 6, plus mayn new links from content pages (including the important keywords in link-text!)

I also went from a low 6 to a 5. Only been a PR6 for two months :(

I'm not really that bugged, as the same has happened to all my competition, and referrals are up. :)
