Novice question - Can I force Google to re-index?

Old listings out of date - what can I do?

Novice here, so please excuse if this is a dumb question. I redesigned our website in December and uploaded it 2 weeks before Christmas. But the old pages (of which many have been deleted) are the ones which are still appearing in the Google Index. Are there any clever tricks I can play to force them to re-index the site, ie. adwords, bribery, corruption etc. etc.

Any guidance much appreciated.

Welcome to Webmasterworld [webmasterworld.com]

If you uploaded the pages before the 6th of january they will probably be in the upcomming index (update), which should take place soon (There is a thread for people guessing the time and date in the Google forum if you want to make a guess)

But there is no way to force an update of the pages.

If you are lucky you can get a "fresh tag" (the date you see on the right of the url for some results)

More about it here [webmasterworld.com]

The easiest way of getting a "fresh" tag is by having changing content and a lot of inbound links (incomming links to your site)
