Expired domains

The jig is finally up?

I am noticing these domains going grey a lot earlier in the month now. Anyone else noticed anything?

No doubt Googles reponse is to use some incredibly sophisticated algorithm that decides perfectly who is guilty and who is innocent with the aid of some expert mathematical analysis.

You know .... like banning a whole hosting company.

Yes, I've noticed also - I'll bet if you put the words "domain name expired" in the title tag of your site, you might see it happen. (just a guess, anyone have a good domain they would like to test this on?)

As GoogleGuy says, it's better to get a brand-spanking new domain anyway. Most of the time you can still find what you need out there. Although I do admit to buying one or two from those expired domain sites that have been perfectly fine (after much research!)

Now, if only Ultimate Search would stop buying all those good ones!.....

Question about buying expired high PR sites and redirecting the PR to another website: will a redirect do the trick, or do you have to publish a website at the expired address?

Hijackers for a long time were going after those expired sites with the idea that many were already listed in Google with a decent PR.

However, since Google seems to be dumping those sites a LOT faster now, perhaps that "industry" will dry up.

I saw one site that we were somewhat interested in that expired that dropped from PR4 to PR0 in less than a week once it was taken over by one of the domain name purchasers. They still wanted too much for it, so we did not buy it, but I thought it was interesting how fast it got dropped.

I still see several expired domains ranking high.

All these domains were deleted from dmoz, but are still listed at the google directory.

Your Name is too long :D Its expanding the table cells :D I only buy new domain names because theres always been issues with quick removal. However those who bought domains before the sept dump or since then have it made in directory.google.com since they dont have the newest dump.
