I have noticed on yahoo that now they do not use results from google as it is.

Now they make some modificaitons on results gathered from google which was not the case earlier.

Because, I searched google for one keyword and the position of my site was different on yahoo.

Is yahoo trying to come out of the goose of google, atleast in SE arena?

Welcome to Webmasterworld, (nice name)

Most Google partners play around with the Google algo.

just look at Aol as an example.

Other factors come into question at Yahoo, such as is the site listed in the directory?

how different?
for my KWs things seem to be the same (except for the sponsorship of course)
I had always thought Yahoo! would use google to present sites in its own directory (for example if a ranking in Google is in the Yahoo! DB then display - if the ranking is not in the Yahoo! Db then drop the result.) How would you feel if you just laid down $299 the day before Yahoo! uses google results as default?

I have noticed that before some time yahoo was not making any major changes from google's results. It is just recently that they are modifying results from google.

And I think aol are making major changes to results from google.

BTW thanks for compliments Shakil.

jpavery, Yahoo uses Google results only, it's been discussed many times here, and there is a lot of threads about paying $299 for a yahoo submission in the Yahoo Forum here at WebmasterWorld.

And as Shakil stated most partners have their own piece of algo that they can use.

From what i know they can not change the way Google ranks it results but only modify certain things, i would say that the most common one is that they use Language options for filtering out results which doesn't seem to be "English"
So if your server is hosted somewhere else that in the US it may just happend that you will not show up on different Google Partners.
