Preparing for the update

... just received my Google T-shirt..

As some members may remember I earned a certain T-shirt at the last Google dance. It arrived here a few minutes ago and I immediately put it on.

But of course this ritual is not my only preparation for the update. I am finishing a lot of new pages to upload during the next few days for freshbot to read. I am wondering if this might be the update where we will see pages being indexed though they have only been found by freshbot.

Anybody else preparing for the dance?

You'll have to wait a while though, otherwise you will probably end up in hospital after dancing so many days in a row ;)

sounds like you just haven't been to the right raves, LoL

now we just need to pick some good theme music for "the dance"

maybe a 12 track custom CD mix, with some anticipation building tracks at the beginning,
some wild flurries during the peak, and some calming flutters at the end... (woot!)

see, the real Google people get it, [google.com...]

Didn't GG say something about 25th being a bit early? Has anybody seen anything that might be the first signs of the dance getting near? Freshbot being absent or something?

Shak, will you be opening a tea refoogium?

They may be trying to make it 11 dances a year instead of 12. Perhaps the very end of the month or early February?
Rememeber really didn't have one for December 2002, and we kinda already had one for January 2003, on the 1st :(

Who posted that funny comment about saving millions over blownout computers and extra bandwidth expenses for webmasters checking stats during the google dance?

How about a list of last minute things webmasters can do before a "dance"?
Obviously you can't create 10 new pages of content, or get 10 new links,
but we can do useful things like update our site maps perhaps?

Still more than a week till the birthday holiday of Barbara Jean Drucker, too early to think about the dance yet.

> How about a list of last minute things webmasters can do before a "dance"?

Tweaking anchor texts.
Removing HTML-bloat.
Checking for dead outbound links,
Tweaking main text.
Checking logs to see if visitors go strange byways to come from one page to another, that you didn't know was related to it.

Welp, its the 25th today.. yah still dancing Troels? :)

All your dancing did was bring 11 degree windchill weather to Florida!

Fresh tags are still on sites dated the 23rd, so I guess not 'till next week. :(

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. There are a lot of websites including my own ones that I cannot visit. But the weather is undramatic and fresh tags are still 23rd. No dancing yet.

troels nybo nielsen, I believe I have already seen what you alluded to in your message which opened this thread. Last update was when it stuck out to me. I had a moderate crawling on only something like 30,000 pages but I noticed freshbot pulled down something like another 20K. After the update, I had something like 45,000 pages in the database. So I figure freshbot had to be making contributions to the dance team.

This month I saw a much deeper crawling and lots less activity from freshbot. So we'll see how things come out.

I always start wearing my Google hat towards the end of the month, put on my GoogleDance2002 t-shirt and randomly push every red button that I see as a subconscious act.....

Same thing for me taxpod; much less 64.68.82.xx since the last deepcrawl. I have some of my pages showing jan 23 tags, but it's not at all like last month.

Congrats Troels, I hope the shirt fits. I've been trying to get ready for the next dance, and deepcrawl, by cleaning out bloated code from back before I learned html, and getting as many new pages up as I can.

I'm really looking forward to this next indexing. I did a lot of work mid-December that isn't indexed yet, just popping in and out with fresh results.

Poussez le bouton rouge, GG.

Hi,

What does 'freshtags' mean?
How can I know when the 'dance' begin?

Thanks

He must have heard you, Stefan. And thanks, I'm wearing that T-shirt now. And I'm already planning for the next two updates, as far as such things may be planned. I'll be trying for a BIG dance two months from now.
