Google Page Rank for new sites

Did Google change the way it works?

Hi All,
I have a couple of web sites that I have been working on. Up until now one of them had a PR of 3 and the other had none (not ranked by google). I know that I have alot of work on them but my question is:
Why have they recently gone from a PR of 3 and no PR to both of them to a PR of 0?

Did Google change something in the PR system? From what I remember PR of 0 usually was for banned or penalized sites.

Thanks

I've recently seen several new pages get a PR0 after they have been visited by freshbot.

We have noticed recently that a lot of our sites start life as a PR0. When it first happened I was quite worried, but at the next update the site in question jumped from PR0 to PR6, so don't worry too much!

Released 2 new sites about 3 months ago. Both were born with the PR0 infliction. The following month, PR5 and PR4 respectively. C'est la vie!

I put up a new subdirectory a few weeks ago. It had the guessed PR from the root directory then went to PR0 which sort of alarmed me. I wonder if it just wasn't found in time to be included in the last update. Hopefully next update it will have a better PR.

This thread from right after the last update discusses it also.

Thanks All,
It is starting to make sence now as Google Bot crawled me at the begining of the month.

Funny thing is I didn't even ask him/her/it to crawl my site as it is not ready to be submitted to the search engines. The only places that link to it are a few of my client's sites (you know.."this site built/hosted/designed/whatever by www...me"), which in turn all have a PR of 0 now.

Thanks Again,
your comments and replies are letting me sleep easier now
