Hello folks, I'm new to the forum, and it looks like this is the place to be. I know very little about what I'm doing, but I'm trying to learn. Right now I'm trying to boost my link popularity to my site: <snip>

The problem is that Google isn't recognizing any links to it when I use the link:www.example.com tool. I don't understand why, because when I go to <snip> I have links that show up to Altvista and Hotbot, but none to Google.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Any help and I would be eternally greatful.

Also, we hired a bad SEO in our opinion that we recently let go. Can anyone tell me if my home page is ok after he messed with it? Is there anything glaringly wrong that I can fix? Again, ANY help would be gold to me. Thanks!

Aaron

If you site is not PR 4 or higher Google won't show you backlinks, but this doesn't mean they're not there.

Feel free to sticky mail your site if you'd like me take a look.

BTW, welcome to Webmasterworld.

You are in the right place SoleDrag, and welcome to the board. Actually, we can't review individual sites or we'd be swamped. You might want to take a look at this WebmasterWorld Welcome and Guide [webmasterworld.com], there are some links to discussions that should be very helpful to those starting out.

Not only do pages less than PR4 not show, but on one site even those that are PR4 aren't showing up either. But they're there and the pages are doing fine.

It's really no cause for concern, as long as you're getting quality links and creating relevant pages on the site. It's more about watching rankings than PR, and that's not only related to link popularity, but on-page optimization and developing good keyword rich content on the site.

One post and I'm already not following the rules. Thanks guys. I'm sure I'll have some questions along the way. It seems like this forum can be a major help.
