Hi,

How does Google picks the description?

I was told that Google picks the description form dmoz, but in my case Google uses the last part of the text from a website i'm in charge of.

Just like a site not in dmoz, the description is taken from some part of the text but I can't indicate what part.

Thanks

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, freddoo.

Once the Google Directory has caught up, the ODP description appears under the main description.

The main description is the META description if the search phrase matches it or if there is no indexable text on the page. Otherwise, snippets are taken from the page where the search words appear. This helps to give searchers some of the content from the page, in the context of the chosen search phrase.
