Pagerank 0 for new site - help!

Can anyone tell why my site got a pagerank of 0?

Hi Everyone,

I recently started a forum (phpbb). It was listed at Google within a few days and had between 1 and 45 pages listed (changed continously) with a grey pagerank.

Since the last crawl, my site is in Google with 2 pages (less than I hoped ;-)) but the pagerank shows a value of zero.

Could anyone give me some hints why I would have received such a low pagerank (or is it even a penalty?)

Thanks!

Chris

Nope no penalty, just have no recognizable inbound links.

i have 2 sites that show pr 0.both have no links from other sites.

but i msut say i am not sure if it is penalized or not - becasue what i did is (i am not 100% sure) i used the same webhsoting package that i had with penalized site.

could it be that google rememebered my web "hosting package" (ip or soemthing) and depsite new domain they gave me pr 0? domains are really ultra clean.

right now i am not sure if i got penalty too or is it jsut "no inbound links".

should i request for ip change? and is it too late tnow (my domain is associated with "penalized" host and no matter where i go it is still penalized?)

complicated.

I think that you have answered the question yourself.. you said the site is recently new, all new sites have to crawl (low PR) before they do the marathon (high PR).

Just hunt for those links to point to your site :)

Throw away all your domains JonB, get new domains and a brand new host, and then repent and never sin against Google again. Then pray constantly that the Google gods have mercy.

Well I have some inbound links of high traffic websites that are closely related to my site and are doing very well in the Google index.

- (Pagerank 5)
- (pagerank 5, several links on this site)
- (pagerank 3)

Could there be another reason? And is the current pagerank of zero the reason that only a few pages are indexed or just vice versa?

Regards,

Chris

Yep.

>>I recently started a forum

Recent being the keyword. Give it another month or so. Google has to find those links, and associate them with your site.

Craig,

Another new site <snip> that went online 2 weeks before <snip> indexed with 120 to 900 pages (changing all the time) and received a pagerank of 5 right from the beginning.

What could make the big difference?

I wouldnt think about the other sites that much, this is a different site.

The links that are pointing to your site have to be picked up by Gbot, so it is just a waiting game as Digitalhost said.

The two weeks. Two weeks is two weeks that googlebot was crawling, not just your sites, but sites that link to your sites. After all that crawling, Google needs to apply the voodoo, which in some cases, take a few months.

<added>Craig beat me to it</added>

Thanks for your reactions, I will just sit back and wait for Google to pick me up :-)

Thats all you can do Chris, thats the worse part for me, the waiting game :(

I have a new site been online for just over a month now, all the pages have a PR of 1 that they gained in the last update, I have a link from a PR7 (linking to only my site) but it was down in the last update :(

All you can do is to keep link hunting and in the end it works out... usualy ;)
