Should or Shouldn't I?

I am considering cloaking my root document of my website for google.

What would happen is that if the User-agent was GoogleBot it would display a link to every single product i sold (about 20,000 of them) and if it isnt a googlebot client then to show them the normal root document.

Anything think this is a bad idea?

Yes it is a bad idea (IMO).

Google would see a page with that many links as a "Link Spam Exercise"

Google thinks it's a bad idea -- assuming you want to be listed by Google:

certain actions such as cloaking, writing text that can be seen by search engines but not by users, or setting up pages/links with the sole purpose of fooling search engines may result in permanent removal from our index.

Piskie:
what is the maximum amount of links per webpage before google will consider it spam?

Why not link to the page where you list every 20,000 products you sell from root? Not quite as good in terms of PR, but this way you aren't cruisin' for a bruisin' with Google. And as piskie said, a home page like that sounds like it would hit a Google filter.
