Google and .Net - No PageRanks

Google does not assign a page rank for any .aspx webpages. I am assuming this holds true for any websites with the .aspx suffix. Does anyone know if Google is plans on resolving this issue or any further information regarding it? You can see this by just searching for .aspx in Google and viewing all of the pages.

On a side note, this does not seem to be a large component in where a site actually gets ranked as top 10 positions can be maintained with the Grey bar.

Thanks,
David

Welcome to WW ugamis,

I cant reference the source because I cant remember it, but .aspx pages do indeed get pagerank, its just that the toolbar doesnt show it.

Yes, there seems to be some misunderstanding with that toolbar of theirs - just because the meter doesn't give you a green bar - does not necessarily mean that the site isn't ranked / etc. Or doesn't have a PageRank assigned to it.

Corporate firewalls can also cause problems with the green bar display. Try not to fixate on it too much - I know, it can be addictive.

And to echo BOL - Welcome to WebmasterWorld. I highly recommend the site search [searchengineworld.com] you can find lot's of good stuff that way.

Well it is good to know that pagerank exists even if it is not visible. Thanks for the replies.

You might have temporary net files on your comp that show the pagerank...I don't know if this is the case for all setups, but its worth a look if you need to know PR of these aspx pages (and it creates files for these aspx pages, i dunno).

You get pages like this

>>Rank_1:1:5

//added...since ive never really looked at these id guess the last number is the PR toolbar value :)

Check out the folder where all your cached net stuff goes into.

Another option - if you have access or can get somebody to access the server config - is if you are on IIS to have all the files with say, '.htm' extension be processed as if they were .aspx.

You can also do the same on a *nix box via addhandler / .htaccess override - however, I'm not sure if Chillisoft (.asp for *nix) supports .Net stuff.

Worth looking into - server might take a 'performance hit' because all the '.htm' files will be run through the .aspx executable, but there is really no need (most of the time) for you to show the world that you are running dynamic stuff - when it could serve you better to appear that you are running static pages.

That goes for search engines in general - not just google. :) Cheers.
