Google Cache Update

At what point during the month is google's cache for a website updated?

I am new to WebmasterWorld.

Is google's cache of a website updated during the google update, or does it happen some other time during the month?

I changed my website about a month and a half ago and still see the old version when I view google's cache for the website. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Webmaster World. And as you might have been able to tell by a couple of the current threads folks are eagerly awaiting the next Google update. Tonight. Tomorrow. Next week. Who knows?

That's when Google will re-cache your page. Updates usually happen about once per month, depending on whenever they push the big red button (or throw the big red switch).

Nothing much to do except come back here occasionally during the next few days and look for the "Google Update" thread.

This all depends on the activity at your site. If you've managed to attract the Google Freshbot your cache could be as fresh as 24 hours. What I've seen during an update is that the cache will revert back to the last major crawl (usually at the beginning of the month) until the update is over at which time the cycle starts over again.
