How do I check my PR number?

PR number and Keyword density

I am a brand new site about 3 weeks old...don't know if I am indexed in google, but I show up at 245 places, when I type in my domain name as search words, including my own pages and links to me. I've noticed position has fluctuated a lot from pretty good for major keywords to can't even find me. I panicked and thought I may have used to many keywords to often and looked like spam so I redid my keyword usage again, but haven't been crawled this week to see if that was what made me disappear and if I'll now come back up.

Anyways, what is appropriate keyword density...how does one find the optimum? And how do I check my PR number?

Thanks...this board has been incredibly helpful to me. Hope someone can help me understand better what I now refer to as Search Engine Politics!

If your site is only 3 weeks old then you will not be in the monthy update till february. What you are seeing is everflux and crawling by the freshbot.

Just keep working on your content, and adding incoming links. Don't worry about your keywords for now, worry more about adding content, then around March you can start worrying about tweaking your keywords.

And keep reading here.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

One way to look at PR is to install the Google Toolbar. [toolbar.google.com...]

As for density BigDave is right, start with seeing where you fall with your "good content" pages.

However, as a ballpark, I make sure that I have my keyphrase on a page at a 3-4% density of the total text. And, make sure my keyphrase is in my HTML Title.

Good luck with your site and keep coming back.

Hi Jimmie,

I agree with Dave and Terry. You've got no basis at the moment for experimenting with key word density, so work on content and on getting people to link to you.

When you do come to checking KWD, try several different tools -- you'll find that they're not all accurate. One popular tool gives me a KWD of 18% when it's actually only about 4%.

This is so awesome to have such quick feedback. Thank you so much for your wisdom & encouragement. I've been on a link exchange campaign since day one...and I will continue with that and follow the rest of your advice. Thanks again!
