Googled one of my keywords few minutes ago and had one of my pages with 26th fresh tags. Now I just refeshed the SERP and the fresh tag disappeared. Anything happening?

[ added ] Googled same word again. That page had its fresh 26th now again. So had another page that did _not_ have it before! Refreshed and both fresh tags disappeared. Is this normal and have I just been ignorant of it until now? [/added ]

My last fresh tags were from the 26th also. I just checked... they've all disappeared and been replaced with cached versions from the last indexing. The pages have been refreshed daily from the 12th to the 26th; this is the first time in weeks that I've had old index caches. Let the dance begin...

(checked again and some of the pages are freshened caches with no fresh tags)

Yeah, Troels, I see the same thing. I have a new site with only one page indexed. I had a bunch of fresh pages crawled on the 26th, now the fresh tag is gone from most of them but they're still listed and cached. If this means they've been indexed, I'm a happy camper.

Good. :) I was beginning to ask myself if I had gone crazy. (There are some members whose comments on that thought are definitely not needed.)

Nothing to worry about. Some days we decide to do different things or run short experiments. Fresh tags will be back in a while. :)

What colour is the button you use to make the fresh tags come back, GoogleGuy?

I just checked one SERP. No fresh tags anywhere. I've seen this happen before just before the dance. I could be wrong, but I say get on your dancing shoes.

I suspect GG's "short experiments" are related to raising webmaster stress levels. ;)

Red button, GG. Push red button.

I have been checking some of my keywords regularly this evening. For one of them website #2 in the SERPs consistently was showing a 26th fresh tag. Now that tag has disappeared too.

Is the dance getting near? Last week I made a guess that this weekend would be the time.

Beachboy, it's the green button that starts the dance. ;)

> What are fresh tags?

Unfortunately I can't show you some right now, but sometimes a search result on Google may show a date behind the URL for a website. This means that the website has been spidered by freshbot on that date.

And, the fresh tags don't necessarily depend on whether the page has changed. For some inexplicable reason, Googlebot typically visits my home page daily, and it gets a fresh tag. I dunno if Googlebot doesn't trust me or likes me, but I hope the former. ;)

Still no fresh tags to be seen. I got used to seeing those minty fresh pages everyday... I hope GoogleGuy pushes a button soon.

I can't see Google having any minty freshness either. I say it is a sign. ;)

It's all cached from the 26th... no tags. I expect the indexing will start tonight. We'll see what the morning brings. I'd like a pr 7 for New Years.

What? Still no dance? I had expected them to do like last time:

GoogleGuy: "Okay, last post from a european was an hour ago. I guess they have all gone to bed now. Press that button!"

There definitely are some things that are _not_ happening: No fresh tags to be seen. No visits to my sites from any bots. No change to be seen in the 632K.

Are there also some things that indeed _are_ happening?

I think google will make some algo-changes. That's why we will have the second time a google dance that is in the next month.

Bubbleman the fresh tag is the date that you can see under the url in the google SERPS saying when the site has been updated and crawled for the last time.
