PR reduction due to internal inbound linking?

Here is my dilemma. My PR dropped last month from PR7 to PR6. The only change I made is to the link to my home page which is part of the header, and it used to point to xyz.com/home.html. I changed it to point to my Domain name only xyz.com. By doing so, the inbound links to the domain went up from 300 to 1600 links due to internal inbound linking to the domain name.

Does internal inbound linking to the domain name causes a reduction in the PR?

Can you clarify, which page dropped from PR7 to PR6. Was it xyz.com or xyz.com/home.html?

I doubt that internal linking had anything to do with it. Each notch of the toolbar represents a range of scores that is relative to the overal size of the database.

As the database grows, the toolbar score for many pages will change. Dropping one notch on the toolbar is quite common and can happen even if your actual PT has increased.
