I read in the forums that one can increase the ranking by adding more pages to a site. But the common wisdom is that the benefit of increasing pages eventually maxes out. My question - at what point does adding more pages lose its value on a site. I realize that adding more content always is of help to a visitor. But at what point does it become irrelevent as far as Google is concerned. My pages generally have about 250-350 words of content. How long will that continue help my rankings? Will I continue to benefit in higher rankings from a 100 page site? 500 page site? 1000 page site, or how big?

I don't think anyone can give a precise answer to your question. And quite frankly I don't think that your question is relevant. I would rather say:

Don't worry about Google and pagerank. Or at least: Never write a page for the sake of pagerank. Write articles because you want to write them and feel competent to do it and think that they are needed on your website.

Organize your website in a natural way that benefits your visitors. If your subject is a rather limited one this may mean that you actually do not need many pages. Then it might be a good idea to create other websites about related matters rather than enlargening your original website in a way that might not seem quite natural.
