Will 20,000 PR2 links harm me?

I have a site (20,000 pages all PR2) driven by database, but all in HTML these days. Since it's all now in HTML google spidered it last month.

Now these 20,000 pages are used by another site of mine, but on all of these 20,000 pages I have not yet linked any of them to my main site(PR5).

I could link all of them at the touch of a button, but I was wondering if it would harm my PR5 site? or maybe it would even increase the PageRank?

Hi prejudice,

I'm not 100% sure about this but this is what I've experienced:

Initially, Google will see the 20,000 links and it may increase the site pagerank.

Then, if your PR5 site doesn't have inbound links from other sites outside of your network, it'll trip a spam filter and you will either a. get penalized or b. only the link from the index page will count and the others will be ignored.

I've seen this with a different scenario so it may not apply exactly the same as with your situation.

Thanks for that, still no closer unfortunately. Does anyone have any other input on this?

It will certainly not count as 20,000 PR2 links. It seems that if you had 20,000 links from 20,000 pages on 20,000 different domains that were related to your topic, it really would make a difference.

Otherwise it really is only a naviagational aid.

I can second that. It won't give your the benefit of 20k PR 2 pages.
