same virtual server...main site is widgets.co.uk.....people forget the .co.uk and try .com...so..now have widgets.com hosted on same virtual server..same ip....widgets.com has no meta tags except for noindex nofollow...it just has a gif that says widgets: enter site..and that links to widgets.co.uk...the directory has the

robots txt. is this now safe as a way to take people from the .com to the .co.uk?

--Why not just permanently re-direct from the .com? -- Splash pages are just a way of asking people if they are really sure when they've already clicked the link/typed in!

Good point, Nick_W. Why make more work for people who come to your site than is needed? Just redirect them to the right URL.

Agree with Nick. Besides, you don't want it looking like one of those nasty "Enter" doorway pages, lest anyone mistakenly think you're spamming. ;)

A 301 redirect sounds like the way to go. Then also, if anyone mistakenly links to the .com you'll still get credit for the link.

geeeez!..i thought the whole point was that if i point it straight at the .co.uk then google might treat it as the .co.uk and penalise for duplicate sites or credit the .com as being the .co.uk and id lose my 500 inbound links!?
