Hello

On one of my websites I am using autoframes so that visitors coming in via any page other than the frontpage are redirected to the frontpage.

Is this a bad idea? Or does Google ignore autoframes?

If it matters: I *am* using different keywords on all pages and so people will enter the site on pages other than the frontpage.

Hi Arjen,

I have a lot of experience with frames and SEs but am unfamiliar with "autoframes." Can you tell me exactly what they are and how they work? If so, I might be able to give you a couple of hints and pointers on using frames.

Sorry for my ignorance, it might be a terminology type of thing.

First you say
visitors coming in via any page other than the frontpage are redirected to the frontpage

Then you say

I *am* using different keywords on all pages and so people will enter the site on pages other than the frontpage

Has it occured to you that the searcher may want to have the relevant page to their search, be the page that shows up?

If I end up on a page that does not look like what I was searching for, I leave. Give the searcher what they want, with good enough teasers that they will want to dig around some more.

I agree with Big Dave. Why screw your visitors around?

Point taken. I will remove the autoframes as soon as possible.

Thanks.
