Overture has a nice sponsored listing that is easy to access, does Google have the same? I can't seem to find a google page offering paid listings. Do I have to go through a third party?

Hi,

I take it you are referring to the 2 top listings, rather than Google adwords.

If so, there is a minimum budget per campaign (varies from $3,000 > $15,000), and also depends what country you are based in.

[google.com...]
this may help answer some of your questions.

Hope the above helps

Shak

(in future it may help to post in Google adwords forum with similar questions, to ensure relevance)

The minumum ad spend is now $15000 in 3 months for Sponsored links (It was $10000 sometime back).

vibgyor, it all depends which country you are in, along with the account manager and finally your attitude and business plan.

In other words Google would NOT turn down someone because their budget is 10% lower than minimum adspend.

If you find a helpful account manager, then the world is your oyster :)

Shak, are you sure its negotiable?

What if Google and the account managers get offended? :)

I discovered today that if the top listings are not taken they will sometimes move one of the add word listings up. But it has have a good click through rate for them to do that. It seems that even with the add words they apply a relevance factor.

yes 100%, depending on what your relationship with Google.

and to be honest, their sales teams worldwide are a pleasure to do business with, they know how to look after a client.

I can back up Shak here. They are pretty easy going and willing to negotiate and test things.

The trick is you have to find the right account manager. Our first contact over there was not helpful at all. Then we transitioned to a different person and she has been nothing but helpful.
