I reported this to Google a few weeks before the latest dance, mentioned webmasterworld in my request. Low and behold after the last dance my competitor has moved up to about the third position.
Is this not considered spamming, because it is a frames page and it is a relevant search term? I am sure there is no correlation with my reporting and his sudden move up in Page Rank? I would rest easier if GoogleGuy could assure me this is not the case. Any ideas on how long it will take google to review this spam?
They probably won't review it. I've seen sites with much worse that stayed there for 2+ years, until Google was publically embarassed by them.
Of course, they were taken out the next day, but for kicks, I reported them every 3-6 months during that period.
They were never removed from my reporting them. Only from the embarassment they received publically over the literally hundreds of thousands of pages. Cloaked, IP delivered, etc.
So, I'd work on making your own site work better, and if the techniques really *do work* try 'em out. :)
In fact if you view his Google cached page it is blank, until you view the source.
If you are using ie5 or 6 too i think! You will not see the cached content of a framed page.
Whereas with NS4 you can.(who would of thought that NS4 would still have a use in late 2002 :) )
I dont know why, but Im sure someone on here can possibly explain the reason for this.
As for the spam, just report it and see what happens, no point getting too vexed about it, itll drive you bananas otherwise.
