1) is there a way to check the number of search requests for a given word? i.e. check to see how many times "widgets" has been searched for today
2) can someone post a link, or lead me in the direction where to find the commands that Google allows (inurl:, link:, etc). it seems that every time i try to find them, i cannot. i will bookmark it this time, i promise :)
2. Dont really know. I tend to use the backlinks button on the google toolbar. Maybe someone else can help.
JOAT
2: also this might seem obvious and feel free to slap me for giving rubbish advice but have tried the help central pages on google. /help :)
Hope this helps
1: this might seem a little primitive but I would use Overtur search term suggestion thingy and then times the figure your given by 29.4, cos they only represent about 3.4% of the search traffic.
I do not recommend this methodology at all.
1) Overture's reach is far beyond 3.4% because their results are displayed on dozens of partner sites. Yahoo alone has a reach of more than 5 times that figure.
2) Overture uses word stemming (combines widget and widgets for one result) and many other keyword combining techniques.
3) In comptetitive areas the Overture results are horribly skewed from thousands of webmasters using them for keyword research.
For more details on how to realistically gauge results and weigh the benefits of using Overture's tool, do a site search here on "Overture Suggestion Tool".
