Can anyone explain why all my links in Google have gone, and yet I remain at PR4.

the links on Google only show links to you that are PR4 and over, maybe the links to you are good PR3 and your internal links are good.

Has this changed since last month? I had several different sites that linked to me (about 5 or 6 of them).

We are having the same problem. Previously our PR was 4 and our backward links were varied from PR0 to PR5 and there were several of them. Now since the dance we are PR1 and have no backward links showing at all!?

Our site has not changed. In trying to find out what has happened I have looked at the Google FAQ's and came across this:

Help! Googlebot is crawling my site too fast.

This is one of the questions on the FAQ's Google information for webmasters, and helpfully you can mail them with the problem, along with weblog that shows Google accesses.

My question is how do you know if this is the case? And more importantly if our site is being crawled to fast is this why our page rank has dropped form 4 to 1 since the last dance and we seemingly have lost all backward links? If this is the case what bit of the my weblog do they mean?

As a newbie please let me off if this is in the wrong section/or been discussed a million times before.

Ta very much and thanks for any help!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Apparently.

Your PageRank reduction will be due to you loosing some of the links that you used to have. Even just one missing link can do it because one, high PR link tends to give you more PR that several low PR links.

gsx, I agree with zeus. It seems likely that you lost one or two links, or that they lost a little PageRank. If you have 5 or 6 PR3 links, that are fairly high PR3 and don't have too many other links on them, then this can give you PR4. In that situation, backlinks don't show (though they do count).

It's not as if I have many links pointing in that I need to check.

I am PR4 with no backlinks (according to Google).

I have at least two pages (of PR4) that link to me (but not according to Google?).

If a site has PR4 and Google will only display links with PR4 and higher, then how does Yahoo with a PR10 have 600,000+ links displayed? Yahoo can't have links that are all PR10. There seems to be a flaw in this theory.

I don't beleive in the 1 or 2 links less this month theory.

I also see no backlinks after the Nov Crawl, this is no mistake this is done on purpuse. Something has changed after the NOV crawl, and i haven't read anything about what causes backlinks to disappear it on WebmasterWorld.

And no, please don't ask me if have pr>4 or backlinks with pr>4 becuase i do.

Surely if it where theming that is involved, i do have relevant backlinks. Because why would i rank good then, without those backlinks?

ikbenhet1, thanks - I thought it was just me!

It does seem a bit odd that other peoples links are appearing, but not mine - just wondering if it were significant.
