I got curious about the patterns of googlebot and ran my statistics program on all the entries by googlebot since my site started a little less than a year ago.
There are some interesting things.
The site is located in Denmark (CET+1) but googlebot only passes by in the morning local time, approx 8-12am. That is working hours here, but night time in the US. Why I don't know. For us it would be better if it passed in the night.
The amount of googlebot trafic closely follows the amount of normal traffic, or rather the other way around, since google accounts for something like 80% of my referrals.
It also appears that the freshbot fetches some of my pages more often than once a day, since some pages in november were fetched about 50 times.
While the previous months are rather regular, with a spike in the beginning of the month with the deepcrawl, and some occasional trafic throughout the month, november seems very different. Maybe it is because the site is starting to be noticed and is getting more traffic. I had a major boost in trafic in the period august-september-october with almost exponential growth, both from googlebot and from normal visitors.
Anyway, I have made public the google specific stats if someone would like to have a look. It is the site in my profile, add /stats/google to the url. The stats are made with webalizer.
