Google counts banners like links

Google counted a banner like an inbound link

Site1 has a fixed banner 468x60 to site2, and not another text link, and seeing site2īs backward links it shows a link from site1.
That link even ranks higher than other text links.
It seems Google considers image links too. I had already seen this with small images. Not with banners (well, itīs an image too, just bigger).

Image links do count with google, it's also a good idea to use the ALT tag for site navigation and text only browsers.
