Does a Database = Good Content = Higher Rankings?

If more GOOD content will help for better rankings, will a database of our products take care of that? If so, what databse do you recommend? What extention is best to use: .asp, .php, .cgi or whatever else? What software or database should we use for the BEST results with Google. We obviously want to make sure that we use the correct extention that Google can index so, all the page will count as an internal link, correct? We have toyed with the idea of using Miva shopping cart or StoreFront shopping cart and use their database features, any thoughts if they work well in Google?

Wow that is a lot of questions in one shot.

let's see...

1. extension doesn't matter. The proper question would be what language you know how to use. Also what language/db combo go best with the type of server you are running on.

2. Miva, I like it, it isn't the greatest for spidering but a lot better than it used to be.

3. I don't necessarily think that switching to db driven site is going to skyrocket your rankings. Your primary concern should be is there any reason/need to switch to a dynamic setup? Ranking isn't the answer to that question.

4. good content is good content no matter how it is served. Just because it comes from a db sure doesn't make it any good.

Ok, good point! Let me better explain. My site has a industry rented database but the top web sites in my industry ranked in Google have their own developed database pointing back to their homepage but this rented database that we use as well as competitor use isn't search engine friendly. I mainly use Window compatible servers for hosting and I use Frontpage for web site developmemt. So, what would you recomend? What Shopping Cart would you recommend so, that Google could index it and give us credit for additional good content?

As far as shopping carts go I would read this
Shopping Carts 101 [webmasterworld.com]

Database of products is not CONTENT. Miva Merchant category and product pages rank very well in Google, but writing content (information pieces, etc) will just draw more people in to your site.
