How do I get into Google? Newbie Question

The logs to my new site show a visits by crawl*.googlebot.com about a month ago. When I type in my domain name none of my pages show up. I have not submitted to any search engines yet. Will my pages show up without submitting them?

Have you any external links pointing to your site? if so, google will find you and add you to it's database.

If you have inbound links from other sites, then the googlebot will find your site that way, so you dont really need to submit your site.

Actually, I rarely submit my new sites to Google. A nice ODP listing and some links from other sites are all thats need.
