Which cached page does google use to rank pages?

As newbies everywhere know, a site is visited by google many times each month - with a fresh cached page available through Google each time. So which one of the many "snapshots" of the page is the important one? Would it be the last one before the update?

It would normally be expected that the Freshbot (64.68...) is just for the Everflux [webmasterworld.com] listings. The other crawler (216.239...) is for the main Google Update [webmasterworld.com].

In my experience, the point in the cycle that counts for backlinks varies according to the PageRank of the page.
