Broken Text URL

In Google SERPS, the text URL (without the [)...] is shown below the description. Sometimes, this text URL seems to have a spurious space character after one of the "/" characters, usually (but not always) before the page name. This prevents copying and pasting the URL. The actual link to the page works fine, it's just the non-functional text URL that's affected. Not all results show this.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but despite using all my search-powers (ha!) I couldn't find a relevant thread.

I've seen this a lot and have often wondered why this is the case. So even though this is just a "me, too" post, I want to point out that I am also very curious as to why this is the case.

I can't say that this is Google's reason, but it makes sense for page rendering.

A long string of characters with no spaces can cause a horizontal scrolling problem for browsers at small page widths (such as the search "tab" on some popular browsers). Insterting the space fixes the problem.
