Expired domain names

Is there a way to filter them?

Hello all.

It's just another way to spam the net. People get somehow expired domain names with good PR (I saw a lot of 5, 6 and even 7 in my field) then they build their own affiliate site -and thats it - they are neraly the first on the keywords they choose.

So no need to worry about site content, about popularity of your site, ... Just buy expired domain name - and you are the first.

I has reported this propblem once to google - and ther were no response or action as I saw.

Andrew.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, adsoft13

If they neither have content nor incoming links they sooner or later will lose their PR at an update. Have you tested their incoming links? Have you written to those other websites that are linking to a domain that doesn't have any real content any more?

The thing is that old sites had good PR cause they have a lot of good incoming links from dmoz from a lot of sites with PR 3, 4, and others.

Because old sites, I suppose, were usefull for users and people links to them.

Of course I has reported to the sites, who links to them - but I got answers only from about 20%, some webmaster emails has undelivery, ... - and in any way it will take a lot of time, while site is loosing its PR.

As long as they are listed at dmoz, they'll keep their pr. I found a lot of them doing quite well with really off topic affiliate content. Uggly, bad, awfull.
