Since i'm on a Mac i have to rely on other machines to check PR (Google bar not available for Mac), but i get the feeling i'm not missing much.
For instance, when i search my chosen keywords, if i am coming up #1 (or in the top 10) does it really matter what my PR is? In actual fact, i see numerous sites below me in the SERPs that have significantly higher PR. This gives me the feeling PR is irrelevant to me. Am i wrong?
i don't mean this critically, but what's the big deal with PR if you're already rating where you want to be? And does higher PR move you up in the SERPs? From what i see i would say no.
However pagerank is a factor in Google's algorhythm and it can't hurt to increase it. As your competitors pagerank increases they will catch you up all other things staying the same.
Some people definitely put too much weight on pagerank but you can't argue that in general, on very competitive search terms the top spots do tend to have high pagerank.
