Hi, I'm some what new to the SEO seen. Slowly but surely I'm making it. With yahoo's recent changes I have to target google better than I was.

It's been rumored that being on the same class C will effect ranking with other sites. Any facts to this?

If I'm hosting 15 sites on the same class C but if they have say 1 link among them would this weigh on my rankings? The class C issue is really confusing to me. I don't want to get banned or any other thing that could affect me getting indexed and etc...

Any references where to get a better understanding of the class C issue or evening getting in google? Please let me know. Thanks!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

The first thread I can recall about class c's and google filtering was a discussion we had a while ago on the Hilltop algorithm [webmasterworld.com] but so far, I haven't seen them implement a class c filter by itself to affect rankings.

That being said, I don't know conclusively if it's used in connection with other filters...

Read the post by the person called Googleguy in this thread. He works for Google. Other than this statement I don't believe much else is known about the class C issue.

TCP/IP is segmented into different classes, depending on the value of the first 4 bits of te address.

See:
