I have a domain which is a base for a future project. (if we can get past development to product in time) The web site is published but with 0 links to the site. Aprox 60 pages with a first draft basic seo concept in code, just out of habit really. (structure, verbage, internal links, code, etc.) Site has been live for 100+ days with a few pages of new content every week. Submitted to G 90 days ago. Submitted early because this project has no bearing on visitors from search engine and will be just an interface for current customers. We have 75% of market as it is (3 out of 4 big boys) and no business could be picked up from an engine anyway. I just wanted to see what G would do with a domain blind to the rest of the net.
Results today show (grey bar first 30 days) 0/10 PR for over 30 days, but unable to show any results in G db. (include allinurl: )
My question is: has anyone else seen these same habits lately. Spidered but blind to search due to no inclusion from 0 links.
I know this has not been the habit of G's algo in the past, but could this be where they are headed. I just can't see why as it would hide too much. Just curiosity due to not having 0/10 pr before without being able to pull up site with allinurl:.
Anyway, just a curiosity thing...
What should i do to get indexed, and the answer is always submit your site to Dmoz, and other directories, and if it doesn't work use our Add Url form.
But some have reported lately that using the Add Url form has worked really great for them, some even got spidered within 72 hours after submitting.
Also if the site is not index in the "full crawl" and only has a "fresh tag" it sometimes doesn't show up for either a search for the domain, or by using allinurl: i have had to do searches for the keyword, and then try to find the domain that way.
Site had zero external href links. Plenty of content pages.
Up until the last couple months the most I got was the url - generally only the root with no title or description. After crawls there could be additional pages, again just url - no title or description.
I wasn't really serious about the testing, I just checked every once in a while.
Then it started showing title and desc for the root, a couple weeks later the other pages started showing title and desc.. and they were staying.. so I started checking a bit more often. The site wasn't actually ranking for anything except url searches at first. Then in Sept/Oct it started ranking. Nothing major, all specific terms, but it was ranking. I shared with a couple friends to see if they were getting the same thing - they were. It was coming along quite nicely for a site with no links. Getting the fresh date and everything.
Then, after the last update, it was gone :( However, I have no idea if it just dropped out due to no links or crawl problems. I'm inclinded to think it was crawl problems as everything went away and this was following a possible server/router problem. I had several instances where I could not access the site. I had several friends in different locations try to access at the same time and about 1/2 could while the other 1/2 could not. Funny thing was that while I could not access, I could via anonymizer.
So, ya it's possible to gain inclusion and even ranking without links - but it's questionable as to how long you'll retain them.
adding: i hadn't checked in a few days so I just went and looked - where before I was back down to the root, all pages are included again with title and desc and it's ranking for very specific (quoted) searches...
adding again:
This is really weird. One term is pulling the root url 2 times..

The only difference between the 2 is the fact that the 2nd has a date of Nov 18.
