I am again back with questions related to my new site (launched in September 02).
In the 1st November Google update, google promoted my pr from 0 to 4.
Previously when it was a PR0 site, it was in the 205th position for my best keyword. Now that it is PR4, it is no where within 800 listing.
It is said that it takes two updates for Google to be able to assign proper rank and PR to a new web site.
So how should i plan my strategy, should I wait till the next update and see how they rank my site? Or they have already done that in the first update?
To do that, I've been working on a new kw picking strategy to build content around. In that past, I relied upon the various kw lists when I came to a new sector (like the overture suggestion tool). Now, I'm slowly getting out of that game because of Google.
To do a better than fair share of referrals from google, takes looking at not 10, 20, or 50 keywords, but more like a 100 good phrases. You won't find those phrases on lists - you have to find most of them yourself.
That's why I've stopped looking at the lists to start. Instead, I brain storm for an hour, to come up with every possible kw phrase I can think of around the subject. Then target those. Then when you are done with that - and only then - go look at some of the lists and fill in your missing kw's.
Those phrases you come up with to target that aren't on the lists, are going to be some of your better ones.
I guess the moral of Google and kw seo is that before you can get into the kw title fight for the top kws in your sector, you have to fight some warm up bouts down in the longer phrases.
