I had a very strange experience happen this update.

When the dance first started my site dropped from top five rankings for very competetive terms to the 150's.

I did some intense studying and the only issue I thought could have explained this drop was a penalty for a Pop-Up.

So, I removed the Pop-up adjusted my Title tag and Walla! my site was back in the top 3 during the dance, with the date next to it's listing and updates I made shown as cache.

On Monday, my registrar thought they were doing me a favor and put a hold on my domain since it was expiring in a week, to prevent cyber squatting . This hold shut my site down for 24 hours, all day Monday into Tuesday!

Now that the update has settled, my site had dropped over 100 positions again and is showing old version of my site as the cache with no date next to listing.

What conclusion should I come to?

Was your site a fresh listing before? I would think that the popup was not the problem. The title adjustment probably helped.

When you say Fresh, that means the date is next to listing correct? If so, yes my site WAS fresh.

I am not sure about the pop-up. I have 2 other sites that fell of the scale and the only relationship I could find was excessive java from the pop-ups.

This site was ranked in the top 3 for over 6 months. I can not figure out why it would drop off like that....could it be from being down during the update?

I can't imagine why being down during the update would hurt you. It really is being down during a crawl that hurts. Now if the freshbot came out and you were not there then that maybe your problem.

I encoutered the same bad experience: dropped from PR4 to 0!
My host was not available during almost a day, is it due to that?
The weird thing is that is it only a PART of my site but not all!

My page rank has not been affected.

I danced from 3 to 150 to 2 to to 8 to 2 to settle at 123.

My updated version was showing in the middle of the index, and since my site was down, it is no longer showing new version and the rankings dropped.

Being down during the update won't hurt you. Your site was moving up and down as a result of everflux most likely. If it is still moving up and down dramatically now and the rest of this month then that means whatever content changes you made were after the last deep crawl back in the beginning of October. The changes would be picked up with the fresh bot and indexed and whatever changes to content you made were showing up. Then after a couple days Google will revert back to the last deep crawl index whilst the new fresh items are assimilated. If you were deep crawled then the content changes will become more permanent as of the next update.
I WOULD BE VERY WORRIED HOWEVER as the time you described your site being down coincides very nice with the time frame of the deep crawl. Check your logs, if possible, for Googlebot 216.239.

I am worried about my site being down during deep crawl.

Everflux is drastic? I can't believe my site danced like it did and dropped like it did....
