Here is something to think about Amazon.com home page is PR3 and has been for very long time, yet if you do a link check at Google some 49,000+ links show up?

They redirect. Look at URL after you typed amazon.com. Its not the same, you get something like www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/home/home.html/103-0798525-6991812blablabla with PR3 but everyone is linking to amazon.com. So amazon's homepage PR should be something like 8 or 9.
