Verification of manual Google visit

Check of logs by IP?

Has anyone who has received a PRO checked their logs to see whether a browser visited from one of the standard Googlebot IP blocks?

Is it likely such a spam-cop would come from the same IP blocks?

Reason I ask is I'm thinking this is the only way to verify if you have had a manual penalty applied if you're PR0....
TIA

They have it in the cache, why would they visit by hand?

I was looking forward to seeing this post fly off at tangents all over the place and you just spoiled it Brett.

To check the nature of any cloaking on the site if you made sure it didn't appear in their cache

I doubt they do cloaking checks from a Google domain.

Even if the page comes from the google cache you would see log entries for your external elements (graphics, scripts, css). However, i wouldn't invest too much time on it. ;)

And if the penalty reason was cloaking better start creating something new.
