PR and subdirectories

Do subdirectories get ranked lower?

I am reorganizing my site into subdirectories, but notice that identical pages allocated to a subdirectory show with 1 point lower PR. Is this an artifact (new pages not yet crawled) which I can ignore, or is it a real drop? Following a recent PR discussion makes me think I needn't worry. But I do. Twitchy to reindex everything back the way it was, before the bot comes through (I think I hear it). Any ideas anyone? Thanks

You needn't worry. If you're just in the process of reorganizing, you're seeing a "toolbar guess" of PageRank, not the real thing. PR is only a measure of linking; whether the files are in subdirectories won't come into play.
