I'm missing All Backlinks and PR Dropped.

Hey..its Sunday night here.. I see 5 of 7 have been updated and still our site has NO backlinks at all..yahoo PR5, Dmoz PR5 as well as some other directories with high PR links and still other links are ALL missing. PR has dropped down to PR3, suprised their is any PR with no backlinks at all.... I know their have been several other people scattered around here who also have seen all their backlinks dissapear.. I am starting to get alittle concerned here I must say.... anyone have any word? All those people who also saw all their backlinks dissapear..have you seen them come back?

Something bad has happened to my site. The page rank on the homepage dropped from 6 to 4. This, in and of itself, isnt a huge problem. I can accept the fact that google may be penalizing search engine optimization firms, and the reality is they do not owe me anything.

The real problem is that EVERY interior page now has a PR 0. I have never used any subversive tricks or attempted to spoof or fool results pages on my site. I have never used hidden text, redirects, keyword stuffing etc. I have spent 4 long years refining this site and bringing it to what it is today. It is my baby, my sole source of income, my passion. If i were to charge myself an hourly rate for the time I put into this it would probably pay for a house in the Hamptons. Live and learn.

There are 2 possibilities that I have come up with that could explain the google blacklist.

I did have a few posts on <snip>. This could be a case of guilt by association, as google may have thought that since i was an advocate of trading links i was as guilty as they were.

The second possibility is that I list all cilents in my portfolio. This could be a case of google thinking I am "selling" page rank to other sites because i list clients on my site. I do not, nor have i ever sold a link on any page i own or market.

I have a hard time accepting the fact that where I leave my URL can penalize me. This promotes a sense of distrust, and decreases the democracy and solidarity of the web.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

hello, helpmebe1 no backlinks here also..

I noticed a file with #1 position that had been freshed/cached on 2 nov, yet the links in there are not everfluxing. that file also has no backlinks.
If this is not a glitch, the word will spread quickly.

Ughh.. you to huh? Do you have any theories on whats going on with this? .. I am clueless... hows your PR, is it under as well now, if what ciml holds true?

Just to say I have a similar backlink mystery, but as yet have found no explanation for it.

The PR of my site went up last update but 3 out of my 4 DMOZ listings are now not showing up and not in the google directory either. Only my most recent DMOZ listing appears. Very odd. Also many other high PR backlinks are nowehere to be found.

As in general my SERPS are better, as is the PR for my site, I'm tempted to think this is some kind of glitch that will be resolved at the next update. I sure hope so anyway :-)

i can't see pr, folding@home destroyed my pr meter, and instaling agina etc etc don't work, i'm not gonna reinstal windows for google (ex?)mighty pr meter.

I don't know.

I only know this months cache is the same as last month's cache , but everything has changed on that page so next update must do the job, else i will assume G is malfunctioned.

i loved google, i still love G a little, but the love is fading away just like the backlinks.

Ohh man..is that dedication.. reinstalling windows for the PR bar. Bless you... if I had to reinstall.. I would loose 30 gig of data.. my hats off to you for doing that.

I am seeing the same thing.. I could of sworn during the update the new cache was being displayed but now back to seeing an old cache? Really weird!

Well lets see if this love hate relationship with google turns to all love or all hate next month? I wish someone.. someone whos name starts with a G and ends with a Y was hanging around and could offer some feedback?

I did'nt install windows, wrong read, it's now worth it this month.

Just wanted to say: The everfluxing sites of last month are not included this month. ps.(i'm in bad condition girlfriend is away for no reason...don't know where she is.. no sleep! cant beleive i'm on webmasterworld)
hope next month links will popup, but i got more important things to do than checking everyday at this moment,personal problems that makes it so.
(maybe this is my payback for all those long nights behind my computer reading ww)

->ok, little theory, dont take it to serious it's just a quick guess: We have to many links within our domains to our own domains?
there must be a reason, since other sites linking to me do show backlinks.

I have seen a few other sites with no backward links, despite their listings in Y! and DMOZ. However some still have a PR of about 3. They also seem to still rank really high for their keyterms.
So I don't quite understand why they have no backward links, maybe this is not a penalty, as penalties are usually distinguished by PR 0, so perhaps it was done for another reason.
