Does Google discern between singular and plural?

for example keywords 'widget', 'widgets' and 'widgiting'

I've done some searching through the forums here but am still not sure on this.

As it appears many people search the plural and ing version of my most important key word I need to be sure to put all three variations in my titles and text if they are all considered separate words.

Thanks for any help on this.

Word Variations (Stemming)
To provide the most accurate results, Google does not use "stemming" or support "wildcard" searches. In other words, Google searches for exactly the words that you enter in the search box. Searching for "googl" or "googl*" will not yield "googler" or "googlin". If in doubt, try both forms: "airline" and "airlines," for instance.

Thanks, I kind of suspected that but wanted to be sure.

It makes a huge difference as far as referrals go. Top spots with and without ing's and s's may make a several hundred percent difference in the number of referrals associated with a top spot. It's absolutely critical to pick the right version.
