Hi,

at first I don't know really much about SEO or things like that. I'm working on a site , (it is the site in my profile (mail address)) which has no backlinks, simply because I haven't finished working on the site. Now I heard something about penalties given by Google and the toolbar shows PR0 when opening my site. Can you imagine how Google found my site , I haven't any backlinks and I haven't used the add url formular. Do you think my site has been penalized for something? Would you please take a look that I can fix it, because I really worked hard on that site.
Or could it be that it is only a bug of Google?

Thanks Nick

Maybe it has something to do with the fact, that when you type your URL into Google, the URL in the "pages that link to" your site, and the "cache" of your site on Google isn't the URL of your site but that of another domain.de site.

Hi big_nick,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld. [webmasterworld.com]

Did you check if your domain name was previously used?

I suspect someone could have messed around with it before you registered it. This can be bad news. It could have landed onto Google's black list.

Please read this thread for more about it. [webmasterworld.com...]

Otherwise banning bots with the robots.txt file will keep Googlebot away from any 'work in progress' site.

Sorry, site reviews are not allowed here.

Good luck!

You most likely have a PR0 because you don't have any backlinks. It's not a penalty, the page just doesn't deserve any page rank yet.

There are several ways for google bot to find sites that aren't obviously linked. For example, if you have outward links on there your url may be showing on someone elses referrer logs, which in turn creates a link back to you which spiders can follow. If you're worried about it being listed before it's ready, throw up a robots.txt file to keep googlebot out until you've finished.

okay thank you guys.

I'm going to finish my website and try to get aome backlinks, then I will see if it was a penalty or not.
If it is a penalty I need a new domain name :( Annoying because the domain name was ideal for my site.
