(Alarms going off) It seems I am not listed in www2 or www3. I have been dropped and have no idea why. Any suggestions? Have to do something or I won't be eating next week.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Mike, and sorry about the worrying news. First, I'd suggest letting the update settle a bit before panicking.

If it does appear you were dropped (and that happens occasionally), waiting until the next update seems to be the most common recommendation. This assumes you aren't doing anything that might get you penalized, and that you have some external linkage to your site. Working on better linkage in your spare time (in lieu of answering the phone or packing orders...) would be a good thing regardless...

For a quick fix, there's Google AdWords and Overture...

Taken from the Google Update FAQ [webmasterworld.com]

9. I don’t appear in the new index, what did I do wrong?
Remember it's their database and they will do whatever they want to do.
Sorry but only Google can answer that question, they don’t remove you from the index without a reason, your site may have been down during spidering, or you did something that they didn’t like. Always review your site very carefully, is there anything that the normal user don’t see but the expert see (html code). Think what you have done to optimize your site, and see if you feel it’s legitimate. Also contact your webhost provider and see if they had some downtime on there servers.

10. I have lost positions on www2 and www3, what should I do?
It's normal to lose or gain positions when the update comes. Brett's Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone thread [webmasterworld.com] is a good place to learn about

Thanks for the info. The only thing I can think of is that the servers/site went down at some point. I can see no other reason. I have a few PR5-8 backlinks on a 100% legit business informational site with some news content and business services descriptions. I have never tried to do any battle to get high rankings as the site caters to a niche using only the name of the company as a keyword. The site owners see the site like one of those resturants you can't get in unless you know the secret password, but they can't survive unless somebody passes out the word.
