Why do I drop places in Google from update to update

When i first submitted to google, i started on page five and the following month page 1 :)

However with the last month upate im on page 10 :( :(

The trouble is its a client site, and the content has remained the same since day one. Is this why its dropping so much, or is their other reasons to consider.

Ive told the client content is very important, but has not sent me any yet.

Good content will never penalize you.

Also look at your inbound links, and review them and see if you can get more.
