Any reason to be concerned?

My site has not been crawled for over a month!

Should I be concerned, even with the new update, my site has yet to be crawled! Also, sometimes when I load my page, it shows a PR of 0. Does that mean anything? Last, I just switched hosting providers, but have kept my old site on Yahoo store running. Might that cause Yahoo to think that I have duplicate sites?

One last thing :) My site has complete dissapeared (since beginning of dance) from google, I have never experience this before because I was #1 for my target keyword for over a year. Will it reappear?

Thanks everyone
-Zach

Zach,

This doesn't sound good. Especially if you really mean that your site has not been crawled in over a month. The upcoming update will be based on the crawl done at the beginning of October. If you weren't crawled, then you may be dropped.

The question is why? Do you have incoming links from other sites already listed in Google? Are you listed in ODP, Yahoo! Directory, Zeal, etc.?

Another issue is whether your site is "clean" in Google's eyes. Check out the Google do's and don'ts in their webmaster info section, and make sure there are no issues.

I would use the next few days (and the sooner the better) to find and fix any problems so that you do get crawled in early November. If you do find and fix a problem, then this would be one of the few circumstances where it might be useful to actually "submit your site" to Google. Although this is usually not necessary or even useful, it might be helpful in your case.

Good luck!
Jim

What's weird is that I never do anything illegal, and I am indexed on Yahoo, DMOZ, Loosmart, MSN and the list goes on and on!

I also recently about a week ago manually submitted my site.

I just hope googlebot visits soon!

Thanks,
Zach

Also, now when I load up my page, the PageRank bar is just white. It is common during the update for the bar just to be white?

Thanks

Is it possible that your server was down during the time when google bot was trying to access your pages?

I had this problem 3 months ago and had PR0 for a month. I hope this is not the case for you because it makes for a very nervous month.

I've had no server down time, and the transition between my hosts went without any problems!

Did googlebot finally come back to you mack?

Thanks,
Zach

Yep thankfully it did.

My host was doing some maintainance and I had some large patches of downtime. All in all i estimate at least 40 mins down each day for about a week. (not great) I saw that my overall stats where down and that googlebot only took 10 pages. (usualy about 4000) As soon as the dance started my entire site disapeared from google. Zero Google traffic for a month. But as soon as the dance has calmed down i saw Google bot crawling once again. Took the entire site over a week. Very deep crawling. When my site got dropped from the index it had a PR6 when it got dropped I had a grey bar (curent page is not ranked by google) Then next dance round I popped back up on www3 then www2 and finaly www. Pr came back 4 days later.

It was one heck of a month.

What's weird is that my site is not getting a grey PR bar, but just a white PR bar!

Is that worse?

Thanks,
Zach

zsalmon
What does the PR bar say when you mouse over it?

If you are refering to your profile site I see PR4

The fact that is is showing it's old value and somtimes a new value is not a good thing. normaly this fluctuation means that a new value is being set. (I hope I am wrong)

From your server logs... did Google spider you as normal?

No spidering action here! I hope another month doesn't pass by before I'm spidered. This whole month I've had to use Adwords to generate traffic. Although I'm #1 on alltheweb, altavista, lycos for my search term "frontline flea" they barley pull in any traffic. I wish the Googlegods could help me now :)

Thanks

It really is amazing the market share that Google has massed. I rank better in fast than i do on Google but get almost no traffic from them. Whereas on the other hand almost all of my traffic is via google... either direct or through a partner site.

Well goodnight mack, hopefully in the morning, something miraculous will have happened! I haven't had to really deal with all this google dance stuff because I acheived a top3 rank in September of 2001.

Thanks your all your help, and good luck to you,
Zach!
