New guy here. Love to read these great posts.

I have a site that has been on Google for a couple of months. Even though I'm in Yahoo, and have a few decent links, my site hasn't been ranked.

I checked www2 and www3 a few times today and I am not in either.

Do you think I will be dropped?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld morty.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet. Wait a few days for the new index to settle down and see where you are then. I have had similar situations happen before.

Let me add my Amen to DrCool. Take time with any of your work on the Web. This forum is an excellent source for asking question and getting some answers. Regretably, things don't happen overnight in this industry.

I have been working with the Web since 1995 and if there is anything I have learned, it's to be patient and never jump to conclusions from limited experience with something that happens to one personally.

We must all be in for the long haul to be successful on the Web. Also, there is more hysteria about being dropped from Google than the reality warrants. Yes, people are definitely dropped but, if we consider the total number of Web sites related to thousands of industries, sites being dropped from the index for violations of Guidelines amounts to a miniscule number of the total.

That's not to so say that one can't be dropped, our company was and we corrected the situation and are getting re-indexed. I'm just saying that being indexed and ranked is so important to our business' that we sometimes get more worried than need be. And expect clear answers and quick change, which rarely happens!

Add a hallelujah to what Terry_Plank said. :) I would wait a few days until the index settles down.
