I don't know.. it's pretty easy for a user to just type in a different search engine url. I'm glad that there's vibrant competition in the search engine industry. If Google doesn't do its job well and starting returning bad results, people will just go somewhere else. That keeps us working hard to return the highest quality of results.

P.S. Did you try a search for google on news.google.com? Worked fine for me. For some reason, I tried a bunch of other news searches and couldn't find the article there. That seems ironic somehow. :)

Show-off. Flaunt it while you got it, eh, GG?

It's also in the newshub/tech [newshub.com] feed, that's where I picked it up.

It's a good article to use to explain some of the "shift" to the general public, no great revalations otherwise.

A "Data Recovery" company moaning about not getting enough free traffic!

I wonder how much pro bono work they do.

Key question:

"As you're spending money with them as an advertiser, that spending does not buy you position; that spending buys you advice on how to get position--a byproduct of the advertising sport," said Data Recovery's Ahern, a client of WebGuerrilla.

People are only human, so its highly likely that this does occur.

Silverstein asserts that Google does not provide preferential treatment to advertisers in text results or target smaller sites for delisting. Google alters its algorithms all the time to improve search quality, he said, and sites might have seen changes recently because of a "fresh crawl" that updates up to 3 million documents more regularly.

How many of the Fortune 500, 1000, or other mega corporations that hire an SEO firm (or do it themselves) to show GoogleBot one thing and the searcher another end up with a PR0?

Maybe it happens, maybe we just don't hear about it.

Hi Googleguy

I saw the word "editorial" mentioned 6 times in that article. I was just wondering if you have any journalism Phd's on staff or anyone else who has some depth/oversight/input in this area?

With your emerging emphasis on news I would think this type of skill set would be essential.

Nice update!
