Google PR Zero in First Month

Is it a penalty, or simply no links?

I have a domain that has been hosted now for a solid 3 or 4 months, and that domain has one page. The index page.

Well, the page has a title, an image header, then says "Coming Soon!". And, it's been like that for a few months.

Right now, I'm showing a PR of 0.

Is this because there's nothing on the site, and no one links to it? OR, is it an actual penalty that has been applied?

The page is static, quite simple - and now that I want and have time to develop it all out, I'm not sure if I should.

Please let me know!

If there are no links i thought that would give it a pr0. How on earth did it get into google though with no links!

Sounds to me like the site itself is not in Google, and hence has no (or zero) PR.

If it was manually submitted this would explain it. Or, perhpaps its only inbound link is a PR0 page.

Racecar78, you're fine. Just gather some links (e.g. from the Open Directory Project). You have no reason to worry though..

I will corroborate that last statement, there seems to be nothing to worry about unless you have ben spidered for at least two months in a row and still have PR0. I wouldn't worry unless your site shows PR0 for 3 months running.

Get some links - Dmoz and a few reciprocal linkage with good quality sites and you will do fine. One of our Client's site recently experienced the same thing. Just need to get those links! :)
