Page with a PR but no cached file?

I was wondering how is it possible for a page to have a PR, but no file cached in Google?

For example, I noticed a message (xxxx.html) on bb that had a PR of 2, but xxxx.html had just been created 5 minutes before and couldn't have been spidered by Google.

(Does that mean a default PR2 for just existing?)

Thanks,
E

cocobat,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

Notice that this thread, that you started 45 mins ago, has a PR of 5!

Rather, appears to have a PR of 5. Clearly Google had not yet assigned a PR to it. The toolbar cheats and attempts to guess the PR it will ultimately have by subtracting a suitable number from the PR of its parent page, the main Google Forum index. In this case the main index has a PR of 7, so the tool bar apparently subtracted 2 from that value.

Thanks, Mohamed_E. I've always just been glancing up at the toolbar rating. If the bar is just an estimation, how do I know what the actual PR is?

You don't until it has been indexed by google and post update when all the new pr scores are calcuated
