Doesn't Yahoo update at different times than Google? However, on the terms I checked Yahoo seems the same.

I remember checking one month and finding the new results on Yahoo before they were on www.google.com.

I think what creep was seeing are results that are more than just Google. So far creep's report is the third about very different search results on Yahoo(Web).
We are in for big changes from Yahoo. Google is not going to be the only data base they get results from.

I've noticed several times over the course of this month that Yahoo results sometimes are virtual mirrors of Google results, and at other times, look nothing like them. Playing with my referer logs, I've seen cases where I'm getting hits from page 1 of Yahoo results, but when I look at the page at yahoo myself, I'm nowhere to be found (though I still appear on page 1 at Google, Netscape, and AOL). Then (I haven't spent enough time to figure out the frequency), things go back to YaGoogle Results later on in the day.

You're right. There's something going on with Yahoo. Not sure what, though. Results aren't obviously from another specific search provider (that I can determine) - they still "look" like Google results, just sorted differently. I first noticed this about 2-3 days after what's come to be known as "Black Wednesday".

<thinking aloud> I'm wondering if Yahoo has some sort of factor for "click popularity" that they inject in there. I'm still getting srd.yahoo hits from time to time - and that contains the tracking code for how many times something gets clicked in it...</back to thinking in my head where it can't possibly harm anyone but myself>
