Weird Google Listings

Listing only the page with no descriptions

I have a relatively new site, which Google somehow managed to crawl before I even started submitting it (and I don't know where it got the link to the site from). The site was already fitted with meta tags.

But all Google has indexed is the site name, listing a whole pile of misc pages from the site (including misc pages using query strings), but No Descriptions!

And if you search for the site by any keywords, or do a site: search with any keywords, nothing comes up.

What gives?

I'm assuming that when you say site name, you are reffering to the title of the page. google doesn't usually display meta descriptions, so if the listings are showing with no text other than the title, there is either no text on the pages, or they have been excluded by a robots.txt file.

I have eleven sites which may be the same as you describe.

They are all included and all have excellent placement but the only thing which shows up in the listing is the URL.

There will be nine normal listings on the SERP and then somewhere in the results will be one of my sites which just says

with no description or title. Is that what your site is showing?

In all cases, these sites are on hold waiting for their content databases to be completed. In the meantime, they are parked, re-directed and masked. Those are the only sites of mine which show up that way.

It appears that google is reading the masking as the final page and stopping there.

Yes, that's exactly what's happening, Quotations.

(There's tons of content on all the pages, and they're not excluded in robots.txt.)

So I'll just wait for them to get their act together, then. I think it's pretty weird!

(Is there anything that I can do about it?)
